Here at CELF, we've been busy - some might say frenetic - successfully sharing the message of sustainability in many different
forums. Whether you are a student, teacher,

CELF SUMMER INSTITUTE: Manhattanville
College (NY) & Simmons College (MA)

| REGISTER TODAY! Now in its sixth year, CELF's Summer Institute for Sustainability Education has trained hundreds of private and
public school educators from across the nation.
Manhattanville College (NY):
Middle/High School Educators: July 12-16
Elementary School Educators: July 19-21 Simmons College (MA):
Middle/High School Educators: July 19-23 Every year, the Institute
provides educators with professional growth, thought-provoking discussion and
expert-led curriculum development. The course offers break-out sessions on
timely subjects using the school building and grounds as learning tools.
Participants are guided as they re-frame a curriculum unit of their choice with
sustainability as an underlying theme and gain exemplar lesson materials with
readings, directions and essential content. |
5th ANNUAL SUSTAINABLE FUTURE EXPO
| | CELF's
Fifth annual EXPO took place April 20th, featuring an evening
format and a focus on green schools, plus a partnership
with the Green Schools Coalition of Westchester (GSCW) - all new for
2010. The evening schedule offered more opportunity for intimate
dialogue among exhibitors and an inspiring experience for ALL attendees. Stay tuned for EXPO '11 details!

SCHOOL ECO-FOOTPRINT PROGRAM

| April
7, CELF conducted an Eco-Footprinting program for the seventh grade at Blind Brook
Middle School, in Rye Brook. The program is a
full-day workshop designed to help students gain a better  understanding
of the impact their school has on the environment. As teams of
eco-detectives, students investigate the resources consumed and waste
produced every day at their school. Student teams then create specific, achievable Action Plans.
CELF has conducted
10 Eco-Footprinting workshops at middle and elementary schools since Fall 2007,
reaching well over 3,000 students throughout the region.
